Overview
Chelsea Lighting supported the delivery of a highly complex, high-end lighting and controls installation for a flagship French luxury retail environment in New York City, featuring extensive, fully integrated lighting throughout a 55,000-square-foot, two-floor space.
The project included a wide variety of fixture types—many custom-finished and built to specification—integrated into millwork, display shelving, mirrors, and architectural elements. Additional complexity came from curved brass track systems, irregular ceiling patterns, and advanced DMX-controlled color-changing lighting, requiring precise coordination between lighting and control systems.
With long lead times, evolving site conditions, and a high volume of fixtures, the project required careful coordination, technical expertise, and a consistent on-site presence to ensure successful execution.
Project Highlights
- Chelsea Lighting maintained a strong on-site presence throughout the project, working closely with the general contractor and coordinating with electricians, millworkers, and design teams to keep the project aligned and on schedule.
- Early-stage coordination included bringing key lighting manufacturers together with project partners to review requirements, ensuring all stakeholders understood installation, integration, and sequencing before work began.
- The lighting scope included fixtures integrated into shelving, columns, mirrors, ceiling systems, and custom display elements, requiring precise alignment with millwork and architectural details.
- Complex DMX-controlled, color-changing lighting—managed through a centralized lighting control system—required hands-on support from Chelsea’s team, including extended on-site coordination with electricians to ensure proper wiring, system performance, and seamless integration.
- Chelsea’s technicians proactively identified and resolved issues in the field, ensuring all systems—from power supplies to controllers to fixtures—were installed correctly and fully operational.
- Through ongoing coordination and problem-solving, Chelsea helped minimize potential disruptions and maintain progress on a highly detailed, year-long installation.
